Classic Scene - BIG

nashbaar says...

Yeah here is the actual details of the PG13 rating.

For example Big, Beetlejuice, and Nothing in Common were three late 1980s widespread PG releases that contained "Fu**" in their dialogue. The ratings board reacted quickly to parental protests, and over the next couple of years, the number of PG-13 films finally outnumbered the number of PG releases, as standards were tightened for PG classification. Around the turn of that decade, standards were also tightened for PG-13 films, at least for violence, as the ratings board became more likely to issue an R rating for violence that involved bloodshed and/or the slaying of policemen. Except for a brief reversal in 1994, the number of PG-13 films has outnumbered the number of PG films ever since, and the proportion of R-rated films (starting with the boom of home video product in the late 80s) has generally increased at the expense of unrestricted films.

I don't know about the rest of you, but when I saw this in 8th grade I wanted to do this too!

Despite having a PG rating, the movie contains the word "Fu**" This is the last known PG movie with the "f" word in it.

Doogie Howser M.D.

nashbaar says...

ahh memories

From Wikipedia:

The television show Doogie Howser, M.D. (1989–1993) starred Neil Patrick Harris as a brilliant teenaged doctor who was also faced with the problems of being a normal teenager, despite having graduated from Princeton University at age 10[1]. The show was set in Los Angeles and ran for four years on ABC. It was created by Steven Bochco and David E. Kelley. The soundtrack of the series is by Mike Post and uses Post's trademark mid to late 1980's Yamaha DX-7 synthesizer. The concept for the show was allegedly inspired by the story of Dr. Howard A. Zucker who became an MD at age 22 and had a cousin who worked in programming at ABC at the time.[citation needed]

Trademarks of the show include Doogie's best friend, the fast-talking and mischievous Vinnie Delpino, played by Max Casella, climbing in through his window, and Doogie writing in his diary on his computer at the end of each episode.

The show characterized the genius Howser as a normal teenager, rather than having the stereotypical traits of TV "nerds" like Screech Powers (from Saved by the Bell) or Steve Urkel (from Family Matters). Steven Bochco revealed that the show's cancellation came abruptly at the hands of ABC executives--before he and the show's staff had a chance to complete the story line.

Quantum Leap - Alternate Ending

nashbaar says...

I would have much preferred this ending than that they did on the show. This is a little fuzzy but you get the idea.

from wikipedia:
The final episode was in fact intended to be an end-of-season cliffhanger, but after the series was not renewed by the network, it was re-edited to function as the series finale. This may account for some of its ambiguous nature. The original ending had Sam leaping to tell Al's first wife, Beth, that Al was coming home. His Vietnam-era picture begins to "leap" (this is where the final episode cuts off), and then we see a modern picture of Al sitting with Beth and their four daughters. This ending somehow made it out of the studio and has been circulated on the Internet. In the ending that was actually broadcast, we are told that Al was reunited with Beth, that they remained married, and that "Dr. Sam Becket [sic] never returned home." Fans have speculated that this would have erased Project Quantum Leap, Sam and Al's relationship, or even Sam himself from the altered timeline; however, the original script and subsequent statements by Bellisario leave all of these intact.
