Joe Pass - The Art of Guitar
A true master. I have an audio tape of him and Ella Fitzgerald at Montreux ... just his guitar and her voice.
James Randi explains Homeopathy
A simpler way to think about it ... instead of using huge globes of water multiplied by billions, is this.
Every compound and chemical that exists on earth has, at one time or another, passed through the water supply. The free water on this planet is therefore already the perfect homeopathic remedy.
It is also amusing to bear in mind that current estimates of the number of atoms in the universe is 10 to the 80th power, which makes some of the homeopathic solutions so dilute that it would be as if there was only one chance in 15 that there would be an atom of the compound in this entire universe.
Or so it seems.
Steve Goodman: Dying Cub Fans Last Request
Goodman was one of the greats and died way too young. Thanks.
GIZMO! - Collection of amazing stunts from the 20's - 50's
That guy with the beard pounding nails through a board with his bare hands just before the title is Joseph Greenstein, "The Mighty Atom". He was a truly remarkable character. There is a biography of him by Ed Spielman which is worth reading.
Greenstein was very spiritual and all of his feats of strength were done, as he said, with mind over matter.
When Spielman met him, Greenstein was 82-years-old, 5'4" and was straightening horseshoes, bending steel bars across the bridge of his nose and hammering spikes through planks.
I've never seen a film of him before though I've seen many still photos.
Thanks for this.
Ever Noticed The Balloon In Casablanca?
Y'know, I was starting to say to myself "My God, how did I miss that ... I've seen the movie umpteen times ... How did I miss that ... " and then it occurred to me.
Very neatly done. I looked at the others and this is far and away the best of the bunch.
Sinister Minister - The Flecktones - Bela Fleck
... and Futureman (sorry about the F) on drumitar.
THANKS!
'Rachmaninoff Had Big Hands'
It's nice to see that the tradition of Hoffnung, Borge and Schickele is in good hands.
STOMP - The Kitchen -This rocks
Not as exhilarating as one of their live performances, but excellent.
Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show - Cover of the Rolling Stone
Nice to see the boys havin' some fun.
Amazing accordion player (Alexander Dmtriev)
Holy Shit!
White Rabbit (Star Trek Edition)
Not bad at all. Made me laugh out loud and startle the dog.
"I Wanna Be Like You" - fantastic song from The Jungle Book
King Louie is, of course, being sung by Louis Prima ... trumpeter, composer, and downright excellent performer.
David Sedaris: 6 to 8 Black Men
The first time I heard Sedaris he was reading the Santaland Diaries and I was driving on a superhighway. I started laughing so hard that I had to pull over into the breakdown lane to finish listening. So I agree with rickegee, Sedaris and driving don't mix!
He is truly a national ... if not international ... treasure.
Grouco Marx & Lord Buckley - TV Game Show You Bet Your Life
Damn straight! The man was amazing.
Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil
Goddam ... if I could, I'd place about 100 votes.
