UFC < Pride
Couldn't agree more with GenjiKilpatrick. I don't comment often (if at all), but I felt compelled to speak up regarding this. Original poster needs to rephrase his statement or seek help. What. The. Fuck. I am aghast. Please don't attempt to legitimize this by arguing that these people voluntarily engage in this kind of activity. If they do so, it's because are afflicted by a lack of empathy along with foolish pride, recklessness and sadism. That is all.
Amazing 13 Years Old Jazz Pianist - Gadi Lehavi
He is the chosen one! Seriously, the level of musical maturity being presented in this clip is staggering.
Mind=blown. Time to practice.

I rest my case.
Free Will and Physics
I would recommend reading Daniel C. Dennetts book "Freedom Evolves". Free will is both possible and real, thanks to the evolution of our mental ability to simulate future events based on previous experience. Our will is constrained, of course, but it is free enough to allow for praise and blame in moral terms. I used to be a hard determinist when I studied philosophy, but this book changed my mind (and my life).
Dan Gilbert presents this concept very neatly in this video on happiness and choice from TED Talks:

Ax or Ask: bad grammar of African Americans
Steven Pinker was mentioned earlier in this thread. Some of his views on language are disputed in this very interesting piece:

I, for one, agree with Dr. Dalrymple.
The Great Global Warming Swindle - Full Documentary
Thanks Gluonium, I should have done a wiki and posted a link in my synopsis in the first place. Impatience got the better of me. However, I still think the sunspot/cosmic ray correlation presented in the documentary holds promise, even if parts of the film are very much debatable...

The Great Global Warming Swindle - Full Documentary
In that case, thanks for an informative, factually correct, and scientifically argued downvote.
The Great Global Warming Swindle - Full Documentary
I'm with you on the air pollution bit. There are many good reasons to reduce emissions, but if the sunspot theory discussed in this documentary holds up (and it is prima facie very plausible to me , at least), global warming isn't one of them.
