I'll admit it's toned down my interest a bit...

personally i don't see anything wrong with it. honestly as long as people keep upvoting them (and as long as they continue to be comedic), i'll keep submitting them. to be fair though, i don't watch television... so the internet is the only way i get to see this stuff... i'm sure a lot of others feel the same way. i know i could just watch them on youtube or something, but then i have to put up with trudging through half-clips, bad audio, etc. i do that anyways, and so i pretty much figure that i'm saving other sifters from having to do the same by submitting them.

Well, it is the same with other type of videos, like the ikea ads, or monty python, or chimp videos or japanese videos. The moment a couple of those videos gets to the front, people are going to submit more links to the queue. It all comes and goes. Right now the daily show is the dominant theme, next week perhaps it will be religious freaks, or
news bloopers or pets, who knows?

We are thinking about adding channels in to the not too distant future. IE, music, politics, and probably daily show. When we do this we will probably make it so that you can exclude categories you would not like to see. This way people can avoid stuff that they don't want to see, and see the stuff they would like to see. It might be a little while though, we have day jobs and the recent spree of updates has been quite rapid.

I assume you are lumping all the Colbert videos into TDS-grouping.

I think half of the queue is MUSIC VIDEOS... so personally I'd rather see too many daily show clips than tons of music videos. So, no one is going to stop submitting music videos, and they aren't new, or interesting. There seems to be hundred of crappy music videos.. Old ones, new ones, lame ones, blue ones.

yeah ... i'm rather bored of the stewart/colbert vids as well *yawn* basically the WHOLE show is funny and most of the community watches it (either on tv or the net) ...

I agree (with most posts): Daily Show gets no votes from me now as the Sift is full of it. I love the Daily Show, it's my favourite US TV program; but I want to see more variety (none of 'em need my help to get on the front anyway!) At least music videos are always different - easily as entertaining as TDS & Colbert (if you have my taste anyway).

Am like meh on the Colbert/Daily Show issues. There are some clips that are just great (like Even Stephen) but there is alot of clips that just there because it's Colbert or Daily Show.

Personally I think what needs a rework is the Queue system we have in place. I think videos should be chronologically posted from Oldest to Newest. Because I see so many videos that get 4 or 5 votes, then get drowned out by new sumbissions and get left behind all the way back in the queue eventually dying because most people don't go further then the 2nd page in the Queue.

Yeah i know that James Roe but by default it sets it to Newest first. Could it be possible for Oldest first to be displayed so there is a faster flushing of older sifts, because there are some good ones there that never escape.

I think we need categories filters. Don't like Daily Show? Unclick the filter category.

This is somewhat of a capitalist market here, with votes being the capital. What the consumers demand, the consumers get.

I love TDS and Colbert. I think most people here do too, or they wouldn't consistently get voted to the top. I don't even mind a lot of them, if they're all good --I don't hear much compaining about the glut of Mythbusters clips, for instance. The problem for me, is that half of them aren't that special. This one for instance: http://www.videosift.com/story.php?id=12461, is currently at #8 on the list. I can't imagine it's getting votes for anything other than being TDS.

But whatever. The reason millions of people line up to buy the latest Beyonce CD isn't because the content it good (they'v enver heard it), it's because it says Beyonce on the cover.

I don't want to filter out TDS. TDS in the queue isn't the problem. The problem is too much crappy TDS in the top 15. Filters will solve nothing. I come for the Mythbusters and TDS, but I stay for the ants!
