Tired of Firefox's Smart Location Bar Autocomplete?

Are you tired of your girlfriend going to type flowersandperfume.com into the firefox address bar on your computer only to have it pull up a list including fagfuckingmidgets.com, fartsniffer.com, and findmenewgirlfriend.com?

In some desperate attempt to make your life easier, mozilla has broken the cardinal rule for web browsers by making your search history so readily available, you can't avoid it. The worst part is "clearing" your private data does nothing. Well my fetish loving friends, here's how you get rid of this evil creation

- In your address bar, type about:config
- This will bring you to a disclaimer yammering on about voiding warranties. You'll want to go ahead and press "I'll be careful, I promise"
- Next you'll want to search for the preference, browser.urlbar.maxRichResults and double click it
- The value in the box should read 12, you'll want to change it to -1 (just like how much money you have in the bank.
- Now do a File->Exit

Good puppy, now break out the tissue and go to town.

y'all should let me know who was having issues with this feature, and who has solved that issue with this tip. I'm curious to see who else was frustrated with this.

I guess that'd be assuming that you're not all a bunch of basement-dwelling recluses.

you know blankfist, I'm trying to be serious here and help people hide their freaky fetishes from the world whilst still benefitting from everything else firefox has to offer.

I'd appreciate your professionalism, thanks.

Although clearing youporn from my history always worked perfectly for me , I did regret having a million bookmarks (which I never seem to clean up) showing up 1st, 2nd, 3rd &c until I’d typed in almost the whole address. E.g., the very cool trip I had to cancel last month because of a family emergency (which trip I don’t want to delete from my bookmarks, because they still have my E500 deposit) popped up every time I typed in anything because of its zillion silly bylines. Which is a little frustrating.

So, yes this DOES WORK and I although cannot say that it solved all my problems, I am grateful to RS for making my interwebs surfing hours of the day, aka most of the day, less frustrating.

When we're talking about "awesome bar", we're not referring to my junk, right? Because if we are, that's really weird that you all also call my penis the awesome bar.

For clarity and consistency, "Awesomebar" refers to the Fx3 feature and "awesome bar" (with a space) refers to blankfist's wang.

As a side note, I don't think the awesome bar is really anything worth discussing.

Ctrl - Shift - Del --> clear Browsing History
Or why not just use a separate Portable Firebox on a USB (or in a folder) for all your deviant crap. Heck, why not use Opera + TOR.

cause this took like a second to change.

The awesomebar is a total handjob, first thing I disabled after updating.

I have a pad of paper sitting on the desk by my computer. There is literally no feature that could be added to improve it; all I want is ruled sheets on which to write. All I want or will ever want from a location bar is to type in an URL, hit enter and visit that location.
