Time to Vote on VideoSift's Default Theme

By default theme, we mean the colors that people will see when they hit VideoSift for the first time, without making a selection. The different themes can be tested down in the footer of this page.

Edit. Thanks for voting, Classic wins! I do like the new ones a lot though - I'm using dark now and find it very easy on the eyes.

Classic (the old school original blue theme) 44% (32 votes)

NuBlu (It's bluer) 18% (13 votes)

Dark (It's Sift Noire) 38% (27 votes)

*Dark

[edit] Not only did I not mean to invoke anything, I also agree that black shouldn't be default for this site, it's just my personal preference. The diagonal stripes and white artifacts around some graphics are irritating, but easily ignored.

am I crazy, colorblind, or just have a sucky computer screen? I can't tell the difference between them! I'd vote on dark if I had to vote blindly, though...
*edit: ok, I get it! the dark is a great choice, but as a default might give people a strong vibe that isn't exactly neutral...classic is best for default, IMHO.

I actually think the default one should remain the same. It's nice to have a dark alternative, but that's exactly what it is supposed to be, an alternative. I also agree with MG, let the most functional one be the default one.

I think dark could be a mistake for a default color. Anytime I see white text on a black screen, my eyes get tired quickly. It's no bueno. Clean, bright and easy to read is probably the best solution for a default, and those closet vampires that truly need this website to reflect their soul can always click the "dark" tab.

The dark is god awful.

The newblu has some nice bits, but overall, I think it's already dating and will make the sift look more dated more quickly.

The bits of newblu I don't like are the fading top bits with the diagonal bands under them, not great. The borders are nice though.

The classic theme but with the thin blue borders would be nice, and maybe some of the other areas where it's gone from grey to the light blue would be nice... just not the fadey stuff, don't like it, it's unclean and just reaks of going with the trend of shaded/reflected styles... I prefer the clean look.

I like the dark one for watching videos, the white one for reading text..hmm...it's a video site and a community site..

The dark one still has some small problems so "could the links in the profile text + the dark/fear channel + links below posts (the "Description and information about your video" part) be made visible somehow (e.g. bolder, brighter/darker)?"

nu blu is good but I just can't stomach the zebra stripe / road barricade look. Why can't it be a 3D looking whiteish bubble area..

I hate this <IMG SRC=http://i33.tinypic.com/2mx4j9j.jpg>

Dark gets my vote. Its just better for watching videos for me because my monitor is really bright and switching it down is a hassle.

I still have a soft spot for the real classic orange and green look of so many years ago *sniff*

Precisely because of this you have to go with the current default theme. Easier on the eyes, (sooner or later anyone's eyes get tired reading white text over dark background) and more neutral (not everyone likes the blue stripes).

One thing you should do, seeing how you are taking into consideration first time visitors/new members is to add ( *add not move) the theme options in the account preferences page because not every new visitor or newly registered member will notice the options where they are now. Just a suggestion.

Just throwing my 2 cents - a blues version of the 'Dark' design wuld be good for the default I think (the nublu is still quite 'white')

Dark is my choice, but I think it should be left to the user, to choose other than blue - blues is the colour of de sift
