Rescind Downvotes
By accident I downvoted a video I meant to upvote. It's rare, but sometimes it happens (1 out of a 1000). It would be nice if we could remove and revote any downvotes. At least within a two hour period or so. Hell, just five minutes.

I think this needs a platform, so let's *sticky this.

ask nicely and lucky will take care of it...
^True. But, I was looking for something a bit more permanent where we don't need to rely on Lucky.
That would be nice, except it would be crap if someone just went and changed their votes all the time.
It should cost 2 power points or something to change a vote.
^even a downvote? If you give the vote change a window of time?
I accidentally downvoted this video, and I'd like to be able to rescind my vote... if I had sixty seconds to do so, that video would have a positive vote from me: http://www.videosift.com/video/Sweet-Child-O-Mine-Played-With-Hand-Fart-Noises
I did it to dotdude once.
^well, to be honest, dotdude probably deserved it. He hates our freedom.
How 'bout a warning that say "Are you sue you want to downvote?" At least you won't accidentally downvote anything then.
yup, I banded this one about before - I think we need an "are you sure?" like you get on comments...
If I remember correctly, there was an "are you sure?" confirmation box, but I think it was removed during one of the updates. But yeah, confirmation would be nice.
And what about accidental upvotes?;)

I wish I could downvote, retract it... so I can downvote it again. That'd make me feel even better!
And fuck the power points idea, lets pay money to make the site function better!
Alright then at least the warning sign first "are you sure" pop up. But if you want to change your up vote to a downvote, it should cost you.

Thanks for that. Sometimes me not smart.
It's a terrible idea. I don't have a reason or anything, just disagreeing. No.
I like the idea of being able to rescind downvotes too.
I'd also like for there to be a record of the downvote and rescission of the downvote displayed on the page too, if it's not too difficult.
I'm adding my support for this motion, for what it's worth. I'd say that any vote should be rescindable within a 15 minute period, up or down. After 15 minutes, it's permanent.
Not only would this eliminate misclicks, but also the occasional cases of "I wish I had watched this all the way to the end before I voted."
Agreed. Digg lets you change votes for comments now.
it's been said before and I think this is a good feature request, nay, it's a *quality feature request

Alright, so...
Everyone's agreed? We'll just abandon this great idea once again?
