It just always shows the 100 most common tags. I don't know which one listed has the fewest occurrences-- hold on, let me go check...

[a few minutes elapse]

Haha! Amusingly enough, these are the bottom of the top 100 tied with 63 occurrences: sex and beer.

So, to answer your question, currently, once a tag has at least 64 occurrences it is guaranteed to make the tag cloud.

Alright now...something is fishy here. Could someone check out those decade tag clouds?
Every one of them I'm click gives me a page of unpublished sifts...the SAME page no matter which decade I choose AND none of the sifts have a decade written in it's tag line.

Alright ADMINS... time to wake up and read my last comment...it's so important and all

The tag cloud tags that are decades are not producing decade sifts. Instead I am seeing queue/unsifted misc sifts.

Please fix?

At first glance I thought this post was titled: "How many tags could a tag cloud tag if a tag cloud could cloud tags?"

I get the same results as you, SG -- the numbered tags just go to the first Unsifted page.

Lucky can correct me when he comes by here, but it seems to me that clicking on a tag actually does a search and search seems to ignore numbers. o_O ... What happens is it returns a search on the letter 's'.

I disagree. "sex" should always have 69 occurrencies, hard-coded.

Damn twiddles, you're some kind of a savant. That's exactly what was happening. I had a regular expression replacement with a hyphen in the middle which of course was interpretted as "through" for the chars on either side of it and the range happened to include numbers, so the digits were being blanked out.

For the layman: It's fixed!
