Food Channel Contest Time

To commemorate the channel's recent name-change from 'cooking' to 'FOOD, we are orchestrating this cuntess complete with prizes and the praise and admiration that goes with every winner. (BTW, there are no losers here, even if your diets consist primarily of MSG-infused feedbags, the contents of chafing-dish troughs at the local 5-gallon-tub buffet, or even if the only appointments in your kitchen(ette) consist of scavenged sporks and hot-sauce packets and a cheese-encrusted wave-emitter box).

Participants: (Capping the number at 5 FIVE 5, since the last cooking contest barely had 3 willing monkeys, two of which entered out of perhaps pity for a fool or enthusiasm for group participation beyond spit-pop and voyeurism)

Will submit a cookie recipe that;

A: they did not google or hear about from some Keebler faeries but have actually tasted themselves and this only other rule be also stipulated:

B: that it be a recipe that they have not themselves baked before

Entries could be a family cookie recipe or even one that a Famous Amos baker-type-baker makes with such a succulency that keeps you wanting them every day until your only hope is to smash every mirror in the house and start wearing clothes with no seams.

Of the entrants, 3 recipes will be chosen at random and yours-troll-ee, will execute the chemistry required to render them, in a clean, orderly kitchen, HAH!

A hand-picked panel of former strippers and female bartenders will judge the entries chosen at some near future date and yes, ON-CAMERA.

PRIZES:

1st Place
Shall receive a dozen of each of the 3 chosen entries fresh-baked and delivered to a physical address of their choosing in a decorative tin (yours to keep), and a T-shirt.

(*The T-shirt will be chosen FOR the contestant after the winner has completed a Myers-Briggs Personality Test online, and has submitted the results of the same to myself. It will drop-shipped to a physical address of their choosing.)

2nd Place
Shall receive a dozen of each of the 3 chosen entries fresh-baked, (in a bag also containing mouse-traps) delivered to a physical address of their choosing

3rd Place
Will receive a mystery package (which will also contain some cookies), to be delivered to a physical address of their choosing. (containing NO contraband, live animals, etc., just some good-clean fun)

Entrants may trust me to be an individual of sound ethical intent and that there are no (immediate or lasting) risks to having me send them something in the mail, as more than a few current and former members of the site may attest to, if I could remember who they were or what the heck it was I sent them

Cheers and good luck to anyone who wishes to participate.
The contest will commence when five entrants are declared....sometime in 2014??

Man, that dish looks quite mouth-waterin', but it don't resemble no cookie-

(mmmm. Laaaamb curry...aaaaughhahlahgggllugggggh!-YUMMERS!)!

-Har. At first I thought you were makin' a pun all sweet on that beefy comedian version, that Joe Rogaine fella..

Well I could maybe give you my recipe for Rogan Josh which is particularly delicious

chingalera says...

Made these last night-I call em:

Chewy Sugar Cookies (monster version)

2 3/4 cups flour (sifted with:)
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder

I cup (2 sticks) salted, butter (softened)
1 1/2 cups whole cane sugar
1 egg
1tsp (or to taste) vanilla extract
3-6 tbsp buttermilk
some ground cinnamon, and some more sugar for later

sift dry ingredients into bowl
in a separate bowl, cream sugar, extract, egg, and a small glug of buttermilk until creamy
mix wet and dry ingredients and add just enough extra buttermilk to make the mix slightly sticky but not wet (or, the opposite of how you like your women)

NOW comes the monster part:

Add to dough, some pure grated coconut (unsweetened), dried cranberries, and fresh almonds that have been hit with the coffee grinder to chop and powder a bit)

Place the dough in the freezer while you preheat the oven to 375°F

on an un-greased cookie sheet, place small dollops of dough that has been rolled in some of the coconut/almond mix you set aside extra

on top of each dollop that you flatten slightly with a fork, brush-on some buttermilk on each dough-glob, then sprinkle with a sugar and a ground cinnamon mix

Bake for 8-10 minutes on second-to-top oven rack

Real panty-droppers these, bet ya can't eat just five

Oh my god, I'm a dumbass, I seemed to have skimmed over the cookie part, haha. Ok, well I've never made them before, I'm not much of a baker, but I heard about these bacon cookies this one time...

chingalera says...

I'll do bacon cookies, but you've had to have at the very least tasted them for the recipe to qualify...

chingalera says...

Well I will consider you the winner of first prize, by default, and send you those bacon cookies if yours is the only response to this contest resembling an entrant-

What happened to the good-old days, eh??

I'm still trying to get hold of the recipe I talked about in my earlier post. My mom cannot find it, but I hope she'll be able to tell me what ingredients she used. I only know that the cookies had marzipan in them, and probably oatmeal.

I really like to bake, so I can't think of any other cookie recipe I haven't tried to bake after I tasted it.

So I'd like to participate in this contest with these "Marzipan-and-probably-Oatmeal-Cookies" and I promise to tell you the other ingredients, as soon as my mother answers my email.

Someone at work brought these chocolate chip cookies in today. I asked her to email me the recipe since they were really good. So here you go...

Chocolate Chip Cookies
(makes 6 dozen cookies)

4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 cups butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 (3.4 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
4 eggs
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups chopped walnuts (optional)

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt, then set aside.

2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Beat in the instant pudding mix powder until blended. Stir in the eggs and vanilla. Blend in the flour mixture. Finally, stir in the chocolate chips and nuts. Drop cookies by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets covered in parchment paper. Refrigerate dough between batches so the dough doesn't become too soft before baking.

3. Bake for approximately 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Could be more or less depending on your oven. Edges should be golden brown.

chingalera says...

Is this, the winner by default or the best gift in the form of a challenge to all by one of the most genuine contributors to this site?

Let the contestants commence their entries!

chingalera says...

Awesome! I consider marzipan cookies a particularly interesting challenge on accounta you can't take marzipan on a commercial airliner anymore wrapped in aluminum as a carry-on snack...

Here is everything my mother remembers about the recipe (and as it turns out, I was wrong about the oatmeal):

Marzipan Coconut Cookies

egg whites
marzipan paste
wheat flour
confectioners' sugar
unsweetened shredded coconut
lemon juice

1. Beat the egg whites until stiff.
2. Combine the other ingredients, then fold in stiff egg whites.
3. Form cookies with a spoon and bake.

The cookies should be golden but still soft.
Optionally, you could add a chocolate glaze to some of the cookies.

She doesn't remember the quantities of the ingredients or the oven temperature. I hope that's okay.

chingalera says...

OH...and considering the recent attempt by chiccochodiarreah, to defame and otherwise lambast me publicly, I would like to take this opportunity for anyone reading this with the power to otherwise tamper with my mail or any winner's who receives a prize as specified here, that nothing which could be considered contraband or of nefarious intent ever came or will come form me into your possession.

FUCK the dumb-shits and the Babylonian high priests of illusion!!

chingalera says...

i would venture to guess perhaps, if you are anything like myself, that you were wrong about the oatmeal, because oatmeal cookies are like...yer favorite frikkin' cookies when they rock, which oatmeal cookies DO, BECAUSE OATMEAL COOKIES FRAKKIN' ROCK..and are my personal favorite everyday cookies ever!!
...which i do.....eat cookies everyday, at least one stolen or baked personally or otherwise offered to me...or stolen....every day

Oh and lilithia, it's fine the amounts and all, I can wing that shit with my eyes closed, AND...
After i read your recipe, it inspired me to write these lyrics to a tune I shall flesh-out in studio (as i have been prone to be up-in lately recording hillbilly music) this punk tune, and here's the gyst and general set up and lyrics...so far (and yes, you Lilithia, inspired this song, as will be reflected in the credits)

chingalera says...

so......Lilithia?
You want I should bake you some of your mom's cookies and write you some more music??

*edit-dude, I was so hammered last nite...and I still can make that song work!

chingalera says...

Hopin' that oritteropo doesn't mind and apologies for posting the recipie contestants intentions submitted to my profile before I do it now, so I am asking here of user orriteropo if he'd like to have me post his entry here, in the public purview, since it was after all, submitted and has been approved as number 3...? Sounds like a tasty treat fit for the running so far, my oven marks go to 6 so I'd guess I can get it to happen close, I would like a name for these droplets of baked wonderfulness though...,make one up f ya have to or ask-about??-

Lilithia says...

Since I repeatedly asked her for the recipe she misplaced, my mom just sent me some other (slightly similar) cookies in the mail and wrote that she can send me their recipe if I like them.

chingalera says...

Plenty of time, let us know which ones you pick-
