Even though I'm still very excited about this movie, I am increasingly worried that it will be entirely in slow motion.

hmm, i was confused when i read this book. not from the plot but from how critically acclaimed it is. it is still the only graphic novel to win a hugo award. I think it is abit much, its very good, but not great;

I thought the Akira Manga was better by quite abit. what was i missing?

Oh dear. Alot of these actors look miscast. Veidt and Manhattan lack gravitas in their voices and Rorschach has developed a bad case of Bat-voice.

And sorry to say but I just don't think Sally Jupiter looks like the character depicted in the graphic novel.

I get a tingly feeling when I watch this. God, I hope it turns out to be good.

Manhattan's voice bothered me more than anything else.

But you know what I've been thinking? It's sort of a win win situation. Either we get a good adaptation that we're all happy with or we can hang our hats on the knowledge that the book transcends other formats. And if you don't like either you can celebrate the knowledge that you enjoy something less than others.

I'm sure there will be pointed commentary on terrorism and power

And actually Veidt doesn't look right either now I think about it.

I know for a fact that were I in my mid-twenties I'd be intensely interested in this. But add in a little maturity and you realise that adaptations normally have very little to do with the source material and I find it hard to get that bothered about how good or bad it will be.

What this represents is a brazen commercial exploitation of something amazing. They could have employed their energies and money to come up with something new and make their own artistic statement but instead we have the standard Hollywood practice of adapting a book and then flogging a DVD. I'd rather reread Watchmen than put down money for this.
