Another remake... likely because the typical US moviegoer can't be bothered with such activities as... Uhh.. reading (subtitles).

Yeah to hell with reimaginations or reinterpretations...lets read the original papyrus manuscripts and NOTHING ELSE!

Hopefully it'll be a better remake than so many other horrible hollywood reworks than didn't quite come up to par. Good for them if then can pull it off.

If there's anyone I'd trust with this...it would be David Fincher...him or Christopher Nolan. Fight Club is and always will be my favorite movie, no matter who misinterprets it however many times.

I've seen all three of the Swedish movies, all excellently dubbed so no subtitles, and I loved all of them. I was prepared to not like the American version but this looks quite promising. I have no problem with watching different versions of the same story as long as it's a reimagining of the story and not a remake of the first movie version altered and sanitized to appeal to a wider audience.

Echoing what several have said here, I really liked the Swedish movies so I have been rather close-minded about what seemed to me to be the unnecessary American remake... But this preview did look pretty good, so I guess I should give it more of a shot!

If anyone can pull off a good American remake, it's Fincher.

I saw it and although the movie did a LOT of things right. The fundamental thing it got wrong for me was the main reason why I like the books and the swedish movies. The relationship between Lisbeth and Mikael wasn't treated in the way it should've been, like it was the most important thing. They just worked together and then the sex. There wasn't any "storytelling" to do with the fact that this antisocial girl was letting her guard down and letting Mikael in...it just didn't work and I eventually walked out of the movie something I never ever do.

I really REALLY wanted to like it, and I enjoyed parts of it. But the soul of the story the two main characters anchoring the entire thing felt just wrong to me.
