TYT: Teacher gets fired for "witchcraft"

lesserfoolsays...

Typical liberals. They don't understand that THERE ARE TWO SIDES to this issue and they are not automatically right just because they are more educated and better dressed. (jab! jab! no I kid)

EDIT: Crap! I got upvoted by BilloReilly and downvoted by Jwray. That is totally backwards, I failed at sarcasm I think. Serves me right for posting on the nets while angry.

I've read a bit about this elsewhere over the last couple of days. As far as I can tell the district claims that wizardry wasn't the only issue, he also didn't stick to lesson plans and such, but they never denied in what I read that the wizardry accusation happened or that the supposed wizardry happened just before the "we have a problem" meeting. If other problems were there they don't seem to have been the reason for the confrontation, just an excuse after it.

Thats just....So what about David Copperfield? Is he the Anti-Christ? Thats It I am going to Florida and opening a "Harry Potter Bookstore"

It'll be comedy gold.

Then again, how often do substitute teachers stick to lesson plans in the first place?

ShakyJakesays...

Even if the teacher was fired for other things than "wizardry", just the fact that "wizardry" raises a red flag is enough for this to be ridiculous. Likely enough, this is probably a school clinging to rules dated over a few hundred years ago, out of some sense of heritage. If he had been a woman, would they have beat it out of her?

Hell, sorry about that. I hit you with a comment downvote too and should have known you weren't serious. I've been trying to get back to work dealing with the public more and that tends to put me on edge a bit, gets tired dealing with people who want to tell us who we really are and why we think what we do rather than asking us so that's why I was here, for a break. Bad timing and bad judgment on my part that time I guess.

pavel_onesays...

Bull crap. This guy claims he was fired because of witchcraft, and Tookie Williams claims he was just cleaning up the streets.

In my school district, a teacher can't be fired unless an actual spell is cast that causes "irreparable harm to another or the reputation of another."

Jesus can return from the dead. Magic people from heaven with wings can fly. Burning bushes can talk. Snakes can talk too. A man was swallowed by a whale and survived. The whole earth was flooded.. and all the water just magically disappeared (where does the water drain -to-?).

... and Floridians think disappearing tootpicks is the 'work of the devil!'

Its evil I tell ye! Demons! Demons are everywhere!

MaxWildersays...

The funniest part is that the people who are most afraid of witchcraft and wizardry will swear up and down that it isn't real. But they persecute people who try to do it. Even though it doesn't work. Figure that one out.

charliemsays...

Wait, so the more someone has a fervor for disbeleiving in wizzardry, the more likely it is that they are hiding a deep-seeded fear of it for being real ?

So I guess thats just about every single nobel laureate and member of the national academy of science.

rottenseedsays...

the only wizardry going on here is the manipulation of sentient, and often, intelligent beings by the media creating a semblance of truth. It's not a liberal media thing, it's not a conservative media thing...it's getting people to go "what the f*ck?" so that they stay tuned to the story. Shame on TYT for biting...
