This is a good reason to not let the government take away gun rights. The same government will threaten to take away the police force if we dont come up with more money. Never leave an important decision to an elected official. They only know how to make political decision. Cut police and such and let crime rise then people will be glad to pay more taxes.

There's growing competition from high-skilled foreign workers. Unemployment is high and tax revenues are down.

That's a brilliant idea. Let's just close down all the public schools too. Then all the idiots who didn't get an education will realize how bad things have gotten, and ask their government to raise taxes so that they can not... be... stupid?
