Omg, you conspiracy nuts never stop. Why would having the first tenant be a huge corporation from mainland China have anything to do with it not being Freedom Tower? China's stand on civil rights and freedoms is well known and...

syncron1 World Trade Center does have a nice ring to it. After all, it is a center of commerce first, and a memorial last.

If that's the intent of the name, then nope, not irked, not at all. I'm unaware of any other worlds that we've populated, so far. If it is intended to be "One World" as the focus, I think that's a perfect name.

videosiftbannedmeI'm glad they took the word Freedom out of it. Freedom is a concept, a right and an ideal, and should be discussed maturely and preserved as such. It loses its strength when it's bandied about so frivolously. Anyone remember Freedom Fries and Freedom toast? SO glad that died off. (rolls eyes)
handmethekeysyousays...I for one really despised the name. The tower has nothing to do with freedom. It is a center of commerce. The people who died there were not freedom fighters. They were primarily financial workers.
Naming the building the "Freedom Tower" was another example of how that day's events have been co-opted by politicians, the media, and anybody with an agenda other than actually honoring the people who died or focusing on what we should actually learn from what happened.
