What could possibly go wrong?
Jinxsays...

You just know some poor shmuck is gonna get hosed by a Judge Dredd wannabe for the crimes of wearing a hoodie and taking the same route home as a woman on her own.

Sarzysays...

Yeah, I was positive this was some kind of viral ad for a show or a movie or something, but apparently it's actually real (or a *very* elaborate hoax). How can anyone think this is a good idea?? This is a billion lawsuits waiting to happen.

I like how they show a bunch of black men helping a white woman being attacked, then when the police arrive they cut to black.

We all know what happens next. Suspect runs free, cops shoot all the black guys dead.

Good job Vigilante app! You just solved Trump's voter imbalance problem.

(you know the white guy's voting Trump, they have so much in common, white, criminal, tendency to grab women against their will)

Mekanikalsays...

I told a buddy from NY about this today. He said he tried downloading it but it's been pulled from the app store and said the exact same thing.

I think that's where they went wrong. Vigilante has take-the-law-into-your-own-hands attitude. Should have been "Witnss" or iProtect or something.

You get a higher rating if you talk with a gruff voice and dress in a bat like outfit

Review for user Batalante: fast response, spandex, 5 stars.

Seriously this is fantastic, all you have to do is turn up and record, not interfere or even make yourself visible. Video evidence in most cases will put people away. And it might even stop people from getting shot by the police.

The main flaw I can see though, is that if I was a criminal, I would register myself on this app, so I could see how far help is, and then target people who are definitely far away from help. But I dunno if the average criminal would do that.

I guess that's why you're not a criminal. Considering the app would place you at the crime scene...
