This is probably some sort of convention. All of the cars will leave at the same time at the end of the day to show the cars one more time. You'll notice the crowd and the Camaro/Firebird (not sure) in the last frame.

The road was a straight line - how was there a problem here??

I hinted that he shouldn't peel out in traffic, but he didn't get my drift.

If I had to guess, I would think it is probably a case of too much traction. Kind of looks like they might have been trying to drift, or maybe kick it around 180.

Yeah, he was definitely trying to do a badass drift. It didn't work.

We like to call that snap over-steer.
