Fox News says "This is huge!" to Obama /Muslim Allegations

maudlinsays...

For God's sake, this is Fox. "Barack's Muslim (later atheist) father raised him and sent him to a madrassas for several years." (Forget that Obama is a Christian and has made no secret of that fact.) "Damn it, it's so hard to come up with dirt on him!" (So let's make this shit up.)

(And from that ThinkProgress link -- Obama never hid his years at Muslim schools and mentioned that part of his life explicitly in his book.)

I very much doubt that Hilary is behind this. The story originates from a conservative source and smells like an attempt to attack both Democrats. From The Moderate Voice:

"Whether you like Ms. Clinton or Obama or not, you need to ask yourself if we have a confirmed report this is going on. Or is this a way to get negative images out there about BOTH Hillary Clinton and Obama?

How do you do that? You throw out a controversy (which does not exist elsewhere else) to a reporter as a now-it-can-be-told scoop. The subject of “the big scoop” are then put on the spot to answer it. Their spokespeople are so stunned by being asked about something like this out of the blue that they don’t answer immediately — so they were not available for comment. Which makes them look bad."

choggiesays...

Hate all media m'self,... and Theo, that's the sort of knee-jerk reaction expected of a Born-Again Christian, when you suggest that Satan is a myth. Oh, forgot that zealots reside on both sides of that fence...Praise Man, and Gory, Hale'll Do Ya'!

Oh and, the tactics?? Time honored method, of leading sheep, goats, cows, and all piggies herdable!!!
Fuck Politics as usual, Viva La Revolution!!!

NordlichReitersays...

Lies and deceit, pray, if some one actually told the truth once and a while the world would implode, or that person would be hanged before they could finish the truthful sentence.

This reminds me of something, i found out the other day that most people don't know that the Pentagram is not the sign for Satan, like most hardliners in Christian beliefs they never read or look hard at the symbol. The pentagram is pointed north with the apex pointing up. Like most satanist signs the pentagram pointed inverted with the apex pointed down is how satanist do just about all their signs.

This goes to show that people are just too lazy to stop watching prime time Television and go out and read a book, or research something before they make some wild a**ed decision about something.

"O wait i just saw it on TV on now im sure that the pentagram (pentacle) is a sign for Satan no matter which way it pointing." - sarcasm.

Point is, make your own decisions, don't worry about what some idiots think.

mlx, would you retitle this. I sort of want to do it, but thought I would ask you. This is simply a case of more fox attempts at negative branding. It is shameful to give them a spotlight for it that does not throw their actions into sharp relief.

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)

God these guys make me want to retch. Please don't make me throw my mouse at my monitor. I lose more monitors that way.

I think there is actually a very positive spin possible on this. The US really, really needs a president with a little insight into the Muslim faith.

When I hear about something Fox News does or their ratings, I always remind myself of their demographic:
I think the median age for people who watch FNC is somewhere in their 60's - so they're specifically catering to old-fashioned, cranky Republicans who think everything ain't as good as it used to be.

As a business model, it's a sure-fire eventual failure.
I feel very good about the fact that they (as all ad-driven business does) will have to moderate their behavior as the old audience dies off and the new one replaces them.

In 20 years, Fox News will look like Democracy Now!

transportersays...

Alright, I think we all see the extremely offensive idiocy of fox news again and it's getting tired. Still, this does bring up an interesting situation [completely unrelated to obama], but what if [out of some strange voting phenemonon] a muslim was brought into the oval office. Some one not too different from a politician we can all respect except that he's [/she's] muslim. Would this change world opinion of us? Wouldn't it be for the better? I would love to have a muslim president, or even a muslim presence in the house or senate. That would be awesomely fair and tolerant of us. Seriously, I honestly think that the thing the executive and legislative branches need most right now is diversity, both political and cultural [but especially cultural bc extreme conservatives don't make sense].
Sorry i gotta throw this in there, but if Obama wins the presidency, can he ban fox news? or at least issue a bounty for the news casters and such? how badass would it be to see DOG take down Bill O'Reilly with bearmace?

rickegeesays...

FNC is still comfortably ahead in the 25-54 demographic. I think that they draw more women than CNN as well.

FNC programs just have better graphics, prettier anchorbots, and their deeply, deeply cynical approach works. They manufacture news and spurious opinion so you don't have to.

What's conveniently overlooked by the drive-by media about Obama:

* Little to no political experience; no-balls for national defense

* Votes exactly like Ted Kennedy, aka the Chappaquiddick Aquacrat

* Gigantic ears

Conservative bias...FOX News?

MAINSTREAM Liberal Bias: New York Slime (aka Traitorag), St. Petersburg Slime, Washington Compost, San Fran Carbuncle, MS-DNC, CNN (Crescent News Network), ABC, CBS, USA Hippie, Slime and Newsweak magazine, BankruptAir Amerikkka and 99% of Hollywood.

The drive-by media no longer pretend to be objective, if they ever did. They're now openly a fifth column liberal propaganda machine, working and walking in lockstep for the 'Crats.

Let the dweebs go on carrying the Dems' water; FOX continues to kick ass in the ratings while the drive-bys' audience atrophies.

Farhad2000says...

Well Theo, at least Choggie knows he's crazy, QM is just delusional.

I love his arguments against Obama... hard finding something to say that would not come off blantanly racist again so you pick on the man's ears? And Ted Kennedy? Weak!

Shit I think your Grand Master Rush Limbaugh and FNC just can't muster good enough arguements for you anymore!

theo47says...

I recognized QM's patois in a heartbeat - it's definitely from someone who's spent WAAAAY too much time on right-wing political chat boards like Free Republic, Little Green Footballs, etc.

I'll drop by Free Republic occasionally to, y'know - feel a whole lot better about myself.
I think I counted at least two thinly-veiled death threats in one thread on "Hussein Obama".

Scary.

@transporter. If we had a Muslim president, then it would probably make the USA appear in a more favorable light... for a short period of time.

When I was in Iraq, the greatest animosity was not so much between us and the Iraqis, but between the Shia and Sunni Muslims. The violence they inflicted on each other was incredibly brutal, and the hatred they had for each other seemed impossible to overcome.

So, if our president were a Shia Muslim, then he may be disliked by the Sunni Muslims and vice versa.

Perhaps the best solution (albeit least likely) is for an agnostic or atheist president, leaving religion out of government and politics completely.

transportersays...

I didn't know that k_8 fan... that's a start. I was thinking more of a significant presence to represent an entire religion.

And Barry I got no beef with athiests (except Penn, that guys a F'ing twat), but I wonder if it would make America easier for religious extremists to label our country "godless" and hate us for it. Then again a country shouldn't be defined by religion and presidents shouldn't be chosen for their religious beliefs. President Ford knew what was up when he seperated that part of his life from his job. I don't know what I think about this right now.

joedirtsays...

Poor 'shroomy, can't even get the small facts correct -->
"FOX continues to kick ass in the ratings while the drive-bys' audience atrophies."

You are incorrect as usual. FauxNews is actually losing viewers by huge amounts, while MSNBC, etc. are growing into the viewers who are starting to figure out they don't like being lied to. By QM, you still have factiness to back you up.

Obama's spokesman responds: "To publish this sort of trash without any documentation is surprising, but for Fox to repeat something so false, not once, but many times is appallingly irresponsible."

Additionally, "Obama aides complained to Fox about what the campaign deemed inflammatory language" during the segments on Fox & Friends and The Big Story.

Today at 6:10am, during Fox & Friends First, Steve Doocy said "we want to clarify something. On Friday of last week, we did the story from the Insight magazine where we talked about how they were quoting that Barack Obama, when he was a child growing up in Indonesia, had attended a madrassah. Mr. Obama's people called and they said that is absolutely false. They said the idea that Barack Obama went to a radical Muslim school is completely ridiculous." "We would love to have Barack Obama back on the show," Gretchen Carlson added...

Obama's Congressional voting record is there for all to see. I didn't make him vote like Ted Kennedy.

Speaking of ears, all the editorial cartoons of Bush make fun of his ears. If Obam can't take a little ribbing he doesn't belong in the hot seat.

BTW nice play taken from the communist playbook. I don't buy the socialist wet-dream so surely I'm "delusional."

Get educated and try again, nudniks.
