Only the Katar was never designed to open inside the body. It was never designed to open at all. It was only after the British colonized India that crap like this turned up to lure in tourists.

I doubt that Katar was a more than a novelty. You were stabbing as fast as possible and hoping you could disengage before the heavy weapon of your opponent came down.
