Black Eyed Peas Have Officially Written The Worst Song Ever

...and it's called "I Gotta Feeling". Mixing Yiddish phrases with autotune skanks is something only the fabulous Black Eyed Peas could attempt. You know - just like rhyming 'up' with 'up' and 'cup' with 'mazel tov'.
demon_ixsays...

I'd agree the song sucks, but ffs, I'm Jewish and I don't mind the "Mazal Tov" and "Le'Chaim".

"Mazal Tov" means Good Luck in Hebrew, but is usually used as "Congratulations". "Le'Chaim" means "To Life", but is generally used as "Cheers".

Jews (myself included) are one of the most paranoid groups out there, but come on... Now someone else using words from your language is hurting you? It's a good thing you didn't call them anti-semites...

^I think his gripe and what most Jewish people would object to is their culture being dragged through the mud - i.e. out of any context in a Black Eyed Peas video.

You're treading on dangerous ground there, a_c.

I mean - assassination would only make her a martyr. We don't want that. Better let her fade away into the nothingness that is a miserable self-indulgent ex-celebrity heroin-addict existence.

I understand his gripe, and I disagree with the degree with which he is offended by the use of 3 simple words of the Hebrew language. The use here was totally benign, and I'm content to ignore it completely.

A storm in a tea cup.

Overly sensitive Jew alert. Nazism really gave some of them an unwarranted sense of entitlement. And, FYI, that "gangly superfluous gang member" they were floating in the air was actually a member of the Black Eyed Peas, so, yeah, not superfluous.

thank fucking christ for some solidarity, even it is too late. i was just spitting blood about this 'song' to my girlfriend the other day. it's a fucking embarrassment for all those somehow involved, and that includes all of us, as fellow human beings.

we should've stopped these talentless motherfuckers before they had a chance to release anything more than a debut album, the quality of which was obviously just at the level needed to ensure the formation of a brainless, loyal fanbase who would, evidently, continue to pay good money for anything and everything these cunts chose to subsequently release.

even the brainwashed victims who buy this current single must, as they listen on loop, faeces smeared on face, be aware of a dull nagging pain at the back of their brains as their entire being attempts to reject the poisonous noise before permanent damage is done, much like a defensive human body rejecting a transplanted lung. the only difference is, that lung had good intentions. this song does not.

it's a fucking disease on the battered face of music, a disease we could've nipped in the bud following early detection. but, as with many unexplainable bands (e.g. nickleback) we were either too embarrassed to talk about it or we thought it'd disappear.

well it fucking didn't. this one's fucking terminal people. the black eyed peas are just getting bigger and bigger and bigger, and one day our brains will just give in to the relentless, monotonous, mindless beat that will eventually riddle our bodies, pickle our brains and cause us to breathe our final breath.

you'd better hope that when you die, that's it. lights out. otherwise this fucking piece of shit song will be playing in your mind for eternity.

Funny thing is I used to like BEP before they went all POP with the addition of Fergie:

J&J was a cool video, but the song was a bit flat. I didn't mind the first album with Fergie but they've definitely gone downhill since then.

BTW, Farhad, your second example is blocked in the US.

Music hating is just ugly. If you don't like pop music then don't listen to it. It's always been simple and more about catchiness than intelligent lyrics. Even the Beatles had retarded lyrics.

Also this particular song is so clearly just intented to be a good song to dance to that it would be kind of a waste to put more meaningful lyrics in it.

Somebody on digg.com mentioned Daft Punk's Around the World. Go hate on it.

have you actually watched the video that i promoted?

I did. Looks like another MTV-style teenie-bopper video. I just find it ironic you people go out of your way to demean this video instead of just ignoring it (which would let it die much quicker, something all of you apparently want).

are you serious? i still don't think you've watched this clip. it's not the video for 'i gotta feeling', it's a video of someone taking the piss out of it, hence its promotion. ignoring this video would be to ignore heavy criticism of a song that i detest. by upvoting it and promoting it i'm promoting the fact that i hate this song.

why did you upvote this video?

He said a "gangly superfluous band member." Yes, that was superfluous... why was a band member just floating there?

^ At the risk of seeming to take the BEP side of this discussion:

It's a bloody music video. Why not?

If you want an exercise in meaningless plot lines that make no sense whatsoever, go watch Transformers 2.

rottenseedsays...

I just read this thread. I see a lot of people hating on a band for trying to fit into the genre of meaningless party music. I don't see anything wrong with creating a song for the sole purpose of making somebody want to dance. The words might as well be grunts...if it sounds good, then fuck it, let it play. Whether or not it sounds good is subjective.

There's two types of people who trash talk music they don't like.

Those that are attending highschool...

and those that never emotionally left.

The former we can only have hope for, the latter... fucking grow up already.

i only like a few BEP's songs and i never gave fergie any credit until i saw her sing with heart....WOW,just WOW.
i dont really see the conflict here.
a pop music band making pop songs?badly i might add.
or was it the jewish terms?
maybe it was the use of jewish phrases in a crappy pop song?
like a double whammy?
nope..still dont get it...
looks like a fabricated conflict to me.

All good points. This song is, however, terrible even for silly throw-away pop music.

EDDsays...

There's a slight difference between pop music and un-fucking-believably terrible music. This one belongs in both. Is it THAT hard to grasp or do I have to draw up a Wenn diagram for you?

Apart from being an appreciator of good honest internet rage, I believe this is pretty much exactly how any person with an IQ equal to or greater than a grapefruit should react.

did you actually misunderstand this guy? or are you simply incapable of holding back your unfounded anti-semitic rage just because a jew identified himself as a jew and commented on something jewish-related? your "overly sensitive jew alert" comment is silly. this guy is simply pointing out how ridiculous it is for BEP to incorporate yiddish phrases into a pop song, phrases that aren't commonly used.

'music haters are pathetic'...'stop trash talking and grow up'..

since when did voicing an opinion become hideous behaviour? should we limit published reaction to just the positive?

i realise the black eyed peas make some people happy but they do exactly the opposite to me, and when a song as offensively bad as this is played with such relentless frequency from every speaker in the land, it's sometimes impossible to ignore. as long as this crap is shoved down my ears from every angle, i'll be sure to react.

and enough with all this 'holier than thou' crap. i'd put money on the fact that each and every one of you has at some point slagged off a song you didn't like.

Paybacksays...

To be fair, I point out a mistake in the "doesn't rhyme" critique...

Mozel tov is not rhymed with cup. It's rhymed with off.

Fill up my cup... mozel tov!
Look at her dancing, just take it, off!

Other than that, they do seem to think tonight's gonna be a good time.

We did? I listened to the Moody Blues, Simon and Garfunkel and other other fantastical shit(Switched-On-Bach for example) in my pre-teens and teens. I'm in my 30's, I lived outside my generation because I had original and independent thought about what I liked.

He doesn't claim it's rhymed with "cup" - he says they rhyme "up" with "up", and then "mozel tov" with "a desire to see a dancing skank get naked".
