Truly impressive display of...something. Skill? Luck? Guts? Stupidity? Experience? All of the above?

I particularly liked the opening of the door and draining it, like in a cartoon...

Definitely don't try this at home. He has a snorkel so his engine won't ingest water and hydrolock, cracking the cylinders and ruining the engine. A normal car would be done in that much water. Some sports cars with a low cold air intake pipe can't even drive through puddles.

This is an ignorant question, I'm sure, but why would that solve the flotation problem? (Not an off-roader)

Without the locker, one wheel spins, not both. So he has an asymetric 'paddling' with the rear wheels...if both were spinning at the same time / speed, he would have made it straight over (still floating..)
